ANI KUNI.

Awesome is what this is, i dont know who the foxy lady who made it is besides that she is namned Madeleine Chartrand, and quite frankly i didnt bother too much to find out more either.
And judging by the soundquality of this lovely little chant, i would say its from the seventies or possibly late sixties, and the cover above more or less justifies that.

Just enjoy this MP3, since its probably the best thing you will hear all week.

FEVER.

So here is Karin Dreijer, with The Knife on hiatus and her first solo album as Fever Ray just released digitally through Rabid (physical release in end march).
Quite frankly i was not too impressed with first single "If i had a heart", although it has an amazing video and great lyrics, so when i heard the whole effort i was positively surprised.

It has a good portion of the sound from The Knifes later work; very dark, dreamy and intimidating, but Karin expands and showcases further nuances of her powerful voice and paints surrealistic visions with the lyrics that goes very well with the haunted, echo-y synthscapes.
For your enjoyment, i picked one of the most up-tempo songs of the album, but i think it sums up the Fever Ray thing quite well.

G00D NIGHT.

LIGHT.

In these days, when it is cold, rainy and grey outside. The best thing that can happen, in my opinion, is when you get your hands on songs like this.. ooooh la la.

FAUX PAS.

Here something i just stumbled upon while lurking the arpanet as usual on Monday nights:

Its some Australian dude called Faux Pas, and i have never heard his music before but its brilliant; slightly disco but with some added 8-bit/analog elements, very slick, dreamy and summery.
Maybe i could use the term "well produced" also.
Or "well executed", perhaps.

And even better, he is giving the whole "Waterfalls" EP away for free on his website.

So instead of listening to my irrelevant rambling about the music, go get it.

Just for the sake of it, i give you my favourite track from the EP, which by the way has some very inspirational cover art, that you can see above, my friend.

WE DIDNT LAND ON THE WEEKEND, THE WEEKEND LANDED ON US.

SO the weekend has landed, exited for this one for no reason really, i just want to drink Anderssons, listen to good music and hang out with good people.

Speaking of good music, Animal Collectives new album "Merriweather Post Pavilion" dropped a while ago, and as usual its so good its just silly.
This time around they continue to follow the harmonic, melodic path that started at their previous full-lenght "Strawberry Jam" and continued through slightly more downtempo EP "Water Curses", but its still the same as ever pretty much; weird, rythmic popmusic drenched in psychadelica, weird noises and base.
Like The Beach Boys crossed with Gang Gang Dance or something.
And their artwork is amazing too, the cover for "Merriweather Post Pavilion" can be seen above. Stunning.

I wanted to post a very very good song from the album called "Summertime Clothes", but ive heard there is some guy employed at their recordcompany Domino that searches the net and kills kids that post their songs on the net so i will pass, with a strong encouragemant to go get the album, and all the previous ones if you do not have them yet.

BUT since its Friday, i will provide you with some songs anyways, from other acts. Enjoy.

THE MORE YOU IGNORE THEM.

Thanks Olle for this one, its one of my favourite Swedish artists Pelle Hellström aka Nordpolen interviewed on morning TV.

Its actually quite interesting to see what happens when two wholesome top-of-the morning hosts try to interview an artist with integrity for once.
I understand in a way that its frustrating as a host to get no answers to your questions, but on the other hand maybe now they will realise music that is not aimed to be commercial and mass-appealing cannot be explained or categorised by answering short, standard questions.

The clip can be analysed in many more ways, but i will pass for now.

I strongly encourage you to buy Nordpolens album "På Nordpolen", it was one of my top three albums of 2008 if not the best.

(I relinked the clip since John found the whole interview including the live performance. Enjoy.)

APATHY KILLS/BUT I DON´T CARE.

So, no post from me for a while, and it´s in part due to a snowboarding vacation over new years and part boredom/apathy/hangovers.
But i´ll try to get the ball rolling again, no particular graphic/photo stuff at the moment, so i might just throw a song out there for now.

Its by The Emperor Machine, the one-man project of Brittish Andrew Meecham, and he creates sounds best descibed as disco-ish and analogue with a certain mystic touch that is weirdly danceable.

Of course there is lots of good bits to choose from, but my recent favourite is this one, so anjoy.

The Emperor Machine - Slap On

Andrew also have some great artwork for his releases, as can be seen above and other places on the internet.

THAT§ ALL.

NO MERCY!

Since my brother Kim has bought a CDG costume yesterday he says he wont be able to party that hard beacause the lack of money this weekend. But I have my pockets full money and gonna set them all to flames by pretending it's 1988 and my name is Bez.

We'll be back later with more updates but for now, Herrskapets all time favorite music video:
